I am fashion forward on my own time,
trapped in granny's clothes at work.
Always expecting to be the only one
wearning that unusual skirt.
But "Hey that's Kim," they will say
as they watch me sashay away.
I am fun and intelligent, quick-whitted and honest.
Marthing to the beat of my own drum.
Serious and silly a gift to behold.
A wonder that could never be traded, destroyed or sold.
I am the daughter of a Wisconsin farmgirl
and a New England Irishman.
I am a sister of seven, a mother of three,
an aunt of twenty-nine, a Godmother of four,
a wife.
I am a gardener, a cook, a seamstress,
a reader, a stained glass designer.
I am sensible, the rule-follower,
the "It was on sale" shopper.
I am a lover of family gatherings, summertime campfires,
and homecooked meals.
I am the friend who listens, laughs, and cries,
and listens some more.
I am a mentor, a teacher,
a life-long learner.
